Social Networking - Facebook, Twitter, Google+

Maybe you’ve heard that social networking is a waste of time or that its only good for gossip and narcissistic navel gazing. Not true! If you’re a business owner who hasn’t embraced social networking as a major component of your online success strategy, it’s time to hop on board.

Most people are familiar with Facebook as the most popular social media site, but there are other options to explore and use as business tools. According to the website Compete.com, in December of 2011 Facebook had 171 million unique visitors worldwide, but Google+ had a very respectable 21 million, Linkedin had 24 million, and Twitter had a whopping 40 million. Those aren’t numbers to sneeze at.

Traditional marketing tactics such as advertising, referrals and public relations still have immense value, but a successful business needs to add social networking to its marketing arsenal. These sites have become part of the fabric of modern marketing and you need to consider them when formulating your overall marketing strategy.
